Analyst Says 1 NFL Team Has Regressed This Season ForthMGN

The Kansas City Chiefs lost their Week 8 matchup with the Denver Broncos, falling to a 6-2 record.

This was their first loss since Week 1, which is not necessarily a cause for concern for the organization.

However, as Craig Carton has recently pointed out, he thinks this loss is an indication that the Chiefs have “regressed,” adding, “Stop Travis Kelce, you stop the Chiefs.”

The reigning Super Bowl champions are still tied for the AFC’s top record after this loss to the Broncos.

But, as Carton pointed out, when Kelce has a bad game, it is significantly tougher for the Chiefs to come away with a victory.

The Broncos defense held Kelce to six receptions for 58 yards, his second-lowest yardage of the season.

This was a far cry from his performance in the last meeting between these two teams, as he totaled 124 yards against the Broncos in Week 6.

It seems, that at least for one game, the Broncos figured out a way to shut down Kelce.

And, as Carton seems to believe, if Kelce is shut down, Patrick Mahomes cannot function as well, resulting in a less efficient offense.

What Carton’s comments don’t seem to say, is that Mahomes was struggling with an illness throughout this game.

While they did lose, and the Broncos did shadow Kelce well, it was clear that Mahomes was sick, unable to compete like his usual self.

This will be a situation to monitor, and it could be a cause for the Chiefs to make a move at receiver during the trade deadline.
