The NFL trade deadline is only a few weeks away, with teams around the league starting to get a sense of what they have and whether they’ll be able to contend for a spot in the NFL playoffs.
One team that has had an up-and-down season thus far after having high expectations coming into the 2023 NFL season is the New York Jets, who have decided to move on from wide receiver Mecole Hardman.
Hardman was signed by the Jets during the NFL offseason and was expected to be a frequent target of superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but without the four-time NFL MVP under center, he hasn’t been able to get as involved as he’d like.
That said, the Jets decided to trade Hardman back to the team that drafted him, with the team sending him back to the Kansas City Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Trade: Jets informed former Chiefs’ WR Mecole Hardman that he is being sent back to Kansas City in another late-round draft pick swap, per sources.

Hardman caught only one pass for six yards in five games played with the Jets, which obviously will not get the job done or make anyone believe he’s worth the $4 million he signed for in the offseason.
Fortunately for Hardman, he’ll be able to return to the offense where he had his most success in the NFL while playing for the team he won two Super Bowls playing with.
Along with being able to get back to work in Kansas City, the Chiefs will welcome a wide receiver of his caliber who already has some chemistry with superstar Patrick Mahomes, as the receiving corps for the defending champions hasn’t played as well as expected, thus far.
