It’s not a secret that the NFL is becoming more pass-oriented now than ever before.

That’s what the fans want to see, that’s what the rules favor, and that’s what the offense and skill players are aiming toward every single year now.

But as much as some believe that the running back is a dying position, there’s a handful of players who have established themselves as legit superstars and are even getting paid as such.

With that in mind, NFL analyst Bill Barnwell took to ESPN’s “Get Up” to share his list of the top-five running backs in the league as we enter the 2023 season.

Austin Ekeler got the nod at No. 5, which is slightly surprising, considering he usually doesn’t get a lot of love or recognition despite being one of the most consistent three-down backs in the league for quite a while now.

Then, at No. 4, he talked about Jonathan Taylor, who’s coming off a down year with the Indianapolis Colts, but who might as well be poised to have a major role next season with Anthony Richardson set to take over.

Derrick Henry was his pick at No. 3, which is no surprise, considering he’s also coming off an underwhelming season, but he’s still the most imposing physical force coming out of the backfield.

Then, he chose one of the best pass-catching backs in the league, Christian McCaffrey, whose only concern should be staying healthy for a full season.

Last but not least, he chose Nick Chubb, who might have a reduced workload going forward with Deshaun Watson under center, so he could be looking to make the most of every single touch he gets.
