Looking to make another statement and make it four domestic victories on the bounce, Jeonbuk will travel to the Daejeon World Cup Stadium on Wednesday lunchtime.
Starting with the hosts, while Daejeon might have suffered a second-half collapse at home against Suwon Bluewings over the weekend as they eventually had to settle for an action-packed 2-2 draw, Lee Min-sung’s side have impressed many since making their K League 1 return this season. Opening the midweek fixtures battling it out in the top-six chase, the one-time South Korea coach has seen his side snatch a single point in each of their last four domestic appearances. However, despite claiming a lively 2-1 win away at Gangwon prior to June’s international break, that is the only victory that Wednesday’s hosts have collected from their previous 10 showdowns – a run that stems all the way back to May 10th. Looking to claim what would be a welcomed boost here, Daejeon have gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. It is worth highlighting, Min-sung’s side have seen six of their last seven appearances finish with both teams finding the net.
As for the visitors, while Jeonbuk might have endured a stuttering start to the 2023 campaign, the reigning K League champions have come roaring back in some style. Last seen over the weekend putting in another eye-catching performance as the picked up a 2-1 win at home against Seoul, Dan Petrescu’s men have won seven of their last eight appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to May 29th. Likewise, extending on their Korea Cup adventure last month as they breezed their way to a routine 4-0 romp against Gwangju, Wednesday’s guests have certainly gained a reputation for their free-scoring displays in the final third. Winning their previous three domestic outings by an aggregate score of 8-1, Jeonbuk will be looking to make another statement here. However, hit with a shock 2-1 defeat when they welcomed Daejeon to town on April 26th, we are backing what could be another enjoyable showdown in midweek.
