With the New York Giants going through a forgettable season up to this point in the 2023 campaign, there’s been a lot of buzz lately that the team could make some drastic moves ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Oct. 31.
One rumor that has gained some steam as of late is the Giants potentially thinking about trading star running back Saquon Barkley ahead of the deadline.
Even though Barkley has publicly stated that he doesn’t want to leave the Giants, the team would be wise to do their due diligence ahead of the Halloween deadline in order to see what they could get for the often-injured star.
However, it seems that the Giants have no intention of moving Barkley this month, as he met with the team’s brass to address his immediate future and was told they want to keep him beyond the deadline, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
Saquon Barkley told the beat reporters there was a conversation this week between him, Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen.

Barkley may want to stay in New York, and the team’s brass may want to keep him there for the time being, but that doesn’t mean a divorce is on the horizon in the near future.
During the offseason, after being upset about not being able to secure a long-term deal with the team, Barkley ended up inking a one-year deal, which obviously expires after the 2023 campaign.
That said, it is kind of interesting that the team wouldn’t seriously consider moving Barkley, especially with the team seemingly headed in the wrong direction.
It’s safe to assume they’ll let him walk in the offseason as he continues to deal with injury issues.
