The Miami Dolphins are coming off a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and it has become very clear that their defense is a problem.

While they own the NFL’s best offense, they’re just 21st in total yards allowed and 27th in points given up, and they gave up 31 points to the Eagles, the defending NFC champs, as well as 48 points to the Buffalo Bills in Week 4.

The debut of star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, whom they traded for during the offseason, should help with this problem.

He injured the meniscus in his knee weeks ago, and even though he was originally expected to return in December, he could be nearing a return already, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa says he looks spry, per Cameron Wolfe.

The Dolphins were also without star corner Xavien Howard on Sunday, who couldn’t play because of a groin injury, and he was reportedly a limited participant in practice on Wednesday.

Ramsey will begin his eighth NFL season, and in each of his previous six seasons, he has made the Pro Bowl while also being named to the All-Pro First-Team three times.

Last season, he posted 18 passes defended and four interceptions, and the year before that, he helped the Los Angeles Rams win the Super Bowl.

That type of veteran experience will certainly help a Dolphins team that hasn’t even won a single playoff game in more than 20 years.

The franchise hasn’t made the Super Bowl since the 1984 season, and its last world championship came in the 1973 campaign.
